Alibi features pianist, composer and bandleader Richard Payne, drummer and vocalist Teddyson John, Francis John on bass and Zack Popo on guitar. “We are excited about this performance”, says Richard Payne, “because we like the atmosphere of the Laborie Village, and because these free concerts are a unique opportunity to share our music and our passion for Creole Jazz with an appreciating public”.

The concert will open with Xtra Luv, a professional band that has been working in the hotel circuit for many years, and that is very active in supporting music and musicians in the South of Saint Lucia. It will return to the Laborie Village Square with its powerful mix of reggae, soca, soul and jazz.

LABORIE STEEL PAN PROJECT + SHOMARI MAXWELL QUINTET + ANDY NARELL.

Shomari Maxwell is a young up-and-coming musician From Vieux Fort.He played the keyboard piano for the last ten years and has been involved with music for much longer. Growing up in the backyard of bands like “Survival” & “Karma”, he learned what was good music very early on. With the musical influence and guidance of his father, guitarist Monty Maxwell, Shomari is well on his way to becoming a prominent musician - with his own sound and style.

The launch and opening concert of Jazz at the Village feature two highly talented and committed Saint Lucian musicians, who have both appeared on more than one occasion on the stage of Jazz in the South.


Jazz at the Village is a FREE EVENT taking place every last Friday of the month, until the opening of Jazz in the South at the Rudy John Beach Park in Laborie on May 1st.

The idea behind Jazz at the Village is to expand the impact of the Jazz festival and make sure that large audiences are able to discover and appreciate diverse genres of music, including Caribbean Jazz.
